File size is bitrate multiplied by duration, converted from bits to bytes: Size (bytes) = ((Video kbps + Audio kbps) × 1000 × seconds × (1 + overhead))/8. The division by 8 is the whole trick — bitrate is quoted in bits per second, file sizes in bytes.
Worked example: one hour at 10 Mbps video with a 192 kbps audio track and 2% container overhead. Total bitrate = 10,192 kbps. Size = 10,192 × 1,000 × 3,600 × 1.02 ÷ 8 = 4,678,128,000 bytes = 4.678 GB — which your file browser will display as 4.357 GiB.
One hour of footage with a 128 kbps audio track and 2% overhead, at common encoding bitrates:

Resolution and frame rate never enter the formula directly. They matter only because they determine what bitrate the footage needs to look acceptable — a 4K clip encoded at 3 Mbps produces exactly the same file size as a 720p clip at 3 Mbps, and looks considerably worse.
