This matters for payroll spans, reservations, deadlines with timestamp cutoffs, and project logs. A date-only calculator is not sufficient because losing the clock component can distort the result materially.
If two timestamps are represented on a continuous timeline, then elapsed duration is simply the difference between them. From that difference, unit conversions follow directly:
