What is Engagement Rate by Reach (ERR)?
Engagement Rate by Reach (ERR) measures the percentage of people who saw your content and then engaged with it — through likes, comments, shares, saves, or reactions. ERR (%) = (Total Engagements ÷ Post Reach) × 100.
ERR is more precise than follower-based engagement rate because it adjusts for actual distribution. A post with 10,000 followers, 2,000 reach, and 200 engagements has: Follower ER = 2%, ERR = 10%. The ERR tells you what fraction of people who actually saw the post chose to engage.
Compare ERR with influencer engagement rate (which uses followers) and engagement rate by impressions (EMR) to understand your full social performance stack.
