Understanding Grade Point Average (GPA)
Grade Point Average (GPA) is a standard indicator of academic performance, representing the average value of accumulated final grades. To account for varying course workloads, GPA is calculated as a credit-weighted average rather than a simple mean.
Each letter grade is converted to a numeric value on the standard 4.0 scale (A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1, F=0). This grade value is multiplied by the course credit hours to determine the Quality Points for that course. The total quality points are then divided by total credit hours to calculate the cumulative GPA.
