Understanding Biological Age vs. Chronological Age
Chronological age is the number of years you have been alive. Biological age (or body age) is a measure of how well your cells and organs are functioning relative to chronological averages.
While biological age can be measured in laboratories using epigenetic DNA methylation tests (Horvath’s clock), lifestyle-based assessments estimate biological age by tracking validated health markers: body mass index (BMI), resting heart rate (RHR), cardiovascular exercise frequency, and sleep hygiene.
If your habits are supportive of cellular health, your biological body age can be lower than your chronological age. Conversely, poor sleep, sedentary lifestyles, and high resting heart rates can accelerate aging indicators.
